Beef Lasagne with Fries and Mixed Salad

A classic Italian-inspired beef lasagne served with crispy golden fries and a fresh mixed salad

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g ground beef 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio
  • 1 whole onion finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 400 g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 250 ml beef stock
  • 250 g lasagne sheets
  • 250 g ricotta cheese
  • 200 g mozzarella grated
  • 500 g frozen french fries
  • 200 g mixed salad leaves

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Baking dish
  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking tray

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare all ingredients and equipment
  2. In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking into small pieces
  3. Add diced onions and minced garlic, sauté until onions are translucent
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes and beef stock, simmer sauce until thickened
  5. In a separate bowl, mix ricotta cheese with salt and pepper
  6. Layer lasagne in baking dish: meat sauce, pasta sheets, ricotta, mozzarella. Repeat layers
  7. Bake lasagne uncovered until top is golden and bubbling
  8. Simultaneously, bake french fries on a separate tray until crisp and golden
  9. Let lasagne rest after baking to set layers
  10. Toss mixed salad leaves with light vinaigrette just before serving

Notes

Allow lasagne to rest 10 minutes before serving for best texture
