Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowls medium and large
  • 1 baking sheets ungreased
  • 1 electric mixer optional
  • 1 wire cooling rack

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
  9. Let cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake. For crispier cookies, bake a minute or two longer.
